Alex Brown first I fell in love with kickdrums!!!, quite rightly. what a massive track. Dreadful was a slow builder. It crept up on me and sat there, taunting me like I was a dog who'd had his bone stolen. Eventually I gave in and started listening to it 24/7. great music from our overlord tom blip.

More Time Records are happy to share their final release of 2021 with two huge club tools from the one and only Tom Blip.

Having already caused a stir with outings on his own label Blip Discs, plus labels such as On The Corner and Tru Thoughts, Tom Blip continues his run of form here with two killer instrumentals: ‘Kick Drums’ and ‘Dreadful’.

Both loose-limbed pieces that tap into some of the most classic rudiments of UK rave culture, Tom builds everything up around the breakbeats: ‘Kick Drums’ gets the engine running with its upwardly cascading bass that wobbles, mutates and eventually melts into pure chaos.

‘Dreadful’ maintains the pressure with more swaggering breaks and shimmering dubby washes before dropping into a riff that’s three parts electro, two parts acid house and one part modern day nihilist. Springy, twisted but also unhurried and stately.

These have been an essential staple in More Time Records sets since the beginning of the year!
